Many older boats have masts that are wired with a two conductor wire going up to the masthead. In the past it was impossible to have both Tricolor and an Anchor light because you only had a single +/- going up to the masthead and down to the switch panel. Since LED's ostensibly are just diodes, namely, one-way streets for electrons this is no longer an issue.
This nifty little switch is a simple DPDT switch that is wired to reverse the polarity of your existing two-conductor mast wiring. The TriAnchor is designed to accept +/- or -/+ giving you the Tricolor or Anchor light function respectively
