This is the complete kit for most three and four cylinder Yanmar, Perkins or other engines with saddle mount dual foot alternators. It replaces the stock alternator and it's automotive style regulator with the top of the line Balmar Series 7 alternator and Max Charge M614 regulator. The 614 regulator is the same size as the M612 and is the latest Balmar regulator new for 2010. The Max Charge M614 is not to be confused with the less expensive ARS-5 sold by others in their Yanmar package. The M614 is fully programmable and is perfect for accurately charging AGM batteries with it's adjustable AGM float phase and other user programmable features. AGM batteries are susceptible to overcharging and can be damaged by old-style two phase regulators like the standard Yanmar unit. The Balmar Max charge M614 knows when you are fully charged and drops the charging voltage down to 13+ volts (you program) for a gentle float. This keeps your AGMs from getting cooked and your flooded cell-type batteries from boiling off We've also included Balmars temperature sensors to monitor the alternator and battery. At these high rates of charge it is important for the regulator to be able to react and adjust it's charging rate to the temperature of the battery bank and the alternator. We've also included the Balmar TSP spike protector for lightning and HV spikes that could wipe out any self respecting alternator.
